Why is Steam down?
Every Tuesday at around 16:00 Pacific Time Steam servers are taken offline for maintenance. This maintenance period usually lasts for 10 minutes.
Any down-time outside of this period may be routine maintenance to apply critical updates. Steam servers are also often under heavy load during seasonal events such as sales or signficant video game title launches which can cause intermittent connection issues for players trying to access Steam services.

Why is CS2 down?
CS2 usually goes down for around 10 minutes whenever Valve publishes a new update for CS2. This downtime enables the latest changes to be applied to the hundreds of thousands of servers.
During the launch of larger updates, such as an operation, the downtime for CS2 servers can be much greater at around 30 to 60 minutes.
